My Story
Justin Sajan Francis is a Bangalore-based artist whose music is rooted in honesty, emotion, and an undeniable sense of soul. His journey began at the age of 11, when he was captivated by a televised concert featuring legends like A.R. Rahman and Michael Jackson. That moment sparked a lifelong fascination with music, especially the electronic keyboard, which would soon become his first instrument of choice.
His early training came through the generous guidance of Paul Melwyn D'Souza, a priest who taught music at church. Though the lessons focused on gospel music, they laid a solid foundation in music theory and sight-reading. Around the same time, Justin was drawn to the guitar, inspired by another church mentor, Brother Eulario. Later, it was under the mentorship of Rob Shimray that Justin truly discovered his passion for lead guitar and rock music, introducing him to iconic bands like Metallica and AC/DC.
As his skills grew, Justin began playing with local and college bands, collaborating with artists and DJs across Bangalore. These experiences eventually led him to work with professional composers and directors in the film industry, shaping his sound and refining his style.
In 2013, Justin took a leap of faith into independent artistry. With little more than an audio interface, a pair of headphones, and a dream, he began producing and recording his music at home. His early compositions—instrumental rock and metal tracks like Conquer and Destroy, Beast Beneath the Veil, and Final Desolation—were uploaded to SoundCloud and performed live at open mic events across the city. One of these performances earned him a major milestone: a live showcase at The Forum Mall in Koramangala, followed by an exclusive interview on Fever 104 FM, sponsored by Vodafone.
During this phase, Justin’s love for singing began to blossom. He launched a YouTube channel to share vocal covers of songs in English, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi. But just as momentum was building, life took a difficult turn. A severe financial crisis struck his family, and his father lost his job. As the eldest, Justin made the difficult decision to pause his artistic journey and support his family. He took on technical support roles at Accenture and Tesco, working night shifts that distanced him from music for years.
Yet, his passion never faded. Searching for a sustainable way to stay connected to his calling, Justin turned to music education. He founded his music academy named JSF Music Academy, teaching keyboard and guitar based on the same strong foundation he was given. He also partnered with Trinity College London to train students in its global syllabus. Eventually, he was invited to become the music teacher at his former school—a full-circle moment that allowed him to leave the corporate world and return to music full-time.
This new chapter reignited Justin’s artistry. He composed The Unending Hope, an orchestral instrumental piece inspired by his unwavering commitment to music, no matter the obstacles. In 2020, he released his first vocal pop single, The Agony of Life—a deeply personal track dedicated to those who lost loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic. The song was met with praise and emotional connection at various open mic events, encouraging Justin to continue writing music that speaks from the heart.
Next came Let’s Dance Tonight, a tribute to introverts and underdogs who struggle to find their voice in a loud world. All of the above songs are now streaming on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, carrying with them pieces of Justin’s life and message.
Now, in 2025, Justin is preparing to release his third pop single, Whispers to Refrains, on April 27th—a powerful anthem dedicated to men and single mothers who work tirelessly every day to provide for their families. True to form, the track holds a piece of his own story—because every song Justin writes is more than music; it’s a reflection of his journey, his struggles, and his soul.
With every note and lyric, Justin Sajan Francis continues to explore the depths of human emotion, turning personal truths into music that connects. As he grows as a composer, performer, and producer, he looks forward to creating more songs that not only entertain but heal, inspire, and uplift. His mission is simple—use music as a force for emotional connection, offering hope, strength, and a voice to those who need it most.
